Spring Cleaning Checklist (HVAC Edition)

Are you ready to come clean? Then, the first thing, not the last thing, you should be thinking about is your HVAC system!

Spring cleaning tips

Here at Weather Master, one of the best spring cleaning tips we’ve heard is, it doesn’t matter if you only have 5 minutes or the whole weekend … there’s always something small you can do with that time. Another great tip is, instead of trying to clean your whole house in a frenzy, instead, divide your tasks into easier, tiny chunks. For example, clean one room at a time, or in a day. Or, just have in mind that you’re going to clean one appliance — clean out your fridge, and that’s it. Tasks become far easier to manage, and you’re way more likely to actually do them, if you give yourself baby steps instead of trying to do everything all at once.

Simplify your life, HVAC style

When it comes to maintaining your HVAC system, this is especially true! It doesn’t matter if you have just five minutes to spare, or the whole weekend, because all you have to do is give Weather Master a call. Your HVAC system is one appliance that is quite easy to clean, in that sense! So, if spring cleaning has gotten you feeling a little overwhelmed, just take a deep breath, and add one very simple thing to your to-do list: take 5 minutes and schedule an HVAC tune-up.

Okay, now that you’ve gotten that one crossed off your list, we have a couple more items, if you’re up for it! There’s nothing like the dopamine rush of checking items off a to-do list, after all!

Spring HVAC DIY

The first thing you want to do to prepare for spring is make sure you changed your air filter recently. After all, there’s not much point to spring cleaning, if your dirty, dusty filter is circulating dusty air around your home. Gross!

The other spring cleaning item on your list should be keeping your A/C unit clean. This is a pretty simple and quick task, but most people forget to do it, which puts strain on the air conditioner. All you have to do is, use a vacuum attachment to vacuum dirt and debris off the air conditioner fins, then take the spray nozzle on your hose and spray off any other mess. You may find that there are larger items, like leaves and sticks, stuck in your unit. Nothing will give you a better spring cleaning feeling than removing those!

Whether you’re doing your own DIY spring maintenance on your system, or getting your spring tune-up from Weather Master, we’re glad you’re taking good care of your Raleigh home. Contact us online or call us at (919) 853-7910 and we’ll be happy to help you!
